At our HEWITT project in McLaren Vale, we transformed a modest 3-bedroom home into a spacious, light-filled 4-bedroom family residence designed around modern open-plan living.

With the family needing more room to grow, we added 75 sqm of new living space, along with a generous 35 sqm verandah/deck. The rear extension delivered a brand-new master suite complete with a walk-in robe and private ensuite — a true retreat for the homeowners — while a fourth bedroom brought welcome flexibility for family and guests.

The heart of the home is the new open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge, anchored by a walk-in pantry and finished to a high standard throughout. A showpiece 4.8-metre aluminium sliding stacking door dissolves the line between inside and out, opening the living area onto a covered alfresco and deck — the perfect setting for entertaining and relaxed family living. New aluminium awning windows were installed throughout, flooding the home with natural light while improving insulation and lending a crisp, contemporary edge.

To complete the transformation, we gave the entire home a dramatic new look, replacing the existing roof tiles with sleek Colorbond roof sheeting and cladding the extension in rendered Hebel panel for a smooth, modern finish that ties seamlessly into the original dwelling. Finished with a new laundry, generous storage and quality insulation throughout, the result is a warm, functional and beautifully connected family home that balances comfort, natural light and contemporary style.
